Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars

As a registered dietitian nutritionist, I care about nutrition and eating foods in whole form. And just like most people, I also care about time and convenience. But first and foremost, I care about taste! My passion is finding tasty, high quality food. I find products all the time that I want to share. This will be the first of many posts that highlight my discoveries. My recommendations will be delicious and almost always be nutritious and quick. There is a lot of junk out there, but I’ll help direct you to the best tasting, highest-quality, nutritious products in a sea of product overload.

One of my favorite products, Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars, are fabulous! This post isn’t sponsored, which hopefully lets you know how much I truly love them. I love ice cream, but these frozen Greek yogurt bars satisfy my craving for ice cream instantly. Yasso isn’t trying to imitate ice cream, they are what they say they are; frozen Greek yogurt bars with 5 grams of protein. They have enough sugar to satisfy your sweet tooth, but are still low enough in added natural sugar (no sugar substitutes or artificial flavors) to avoid sabotaging your health. Most of the bars are 100 calories each, though there are a few flavors (some of my favorites) that are only 80 calories per bar. Most importantly, these babies are real food without any artificial taste. Perfect for dessert!

Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars bars have been out for a few years, but they’ve improved the taste and taken out any trace of chalkiness that they used to have. They can be purchased at regular grocery stores everywhere. No need to make a special trip. Let them sit out of the freezer to soften for a few minutes for more flavor. One way I resist inhaling them is by not biting into them. That way they last longer and I enjoy them more. They’re so delicious that you’ll want them during any season. I hope you enjoy these sweet and nutritious treats as much as I do!

Best Way to Ripen, Cut, & Preserve an Avocado

Either in guacamole, as a replacement for mayo on a sandwich, or just plain with a little bit of salt, avocados are delicious and nutritious! Full of fiber, potassium, folate, vitamins K, C, B6, E, and monounsaturated fat, avocados are great for blood pressure and blood sugar control, as well as for keeping belly fat down. Do you need any more reasons to indulge?

What You Don't Know About Omega-3 Fats

If you really understood how critical omega-3 fatty acids are to keeping your brain sharp, your heart healthy, and your mental health intact, you would make sure you and your family were eating more of them! Omega-3 fats have an important role in reducing inflammation, blood clots, and blood pressure, and are critical for learning, vision, and brain function; especially for the brain development of babies and children. Even childhood food allergies and postpartum depression are linked to a low intake of omega-3 fatty acids! We usually talk about omega-3s in conjunction with seafood, but I have a couple of non-fish suggestions that will help you get more of this incredible fatty acid in your diet. Furthermore, so you don’t get confused by tricky labels, I will clue you in on the omega-3 label language and the different kinds of omega-3s.
